Veteran actor John Estrada has finally broken his silence regarding the circulating rumors about a romantic relationship between his daughter, Kyla Estrada, and Kapamilya superstar Daniel Padilla (DJ). Far from discouraging the speculation, Estrada openly praised Padilla, highlighting the young actor’s character both as a person and as a colleague.

When interviewed about the matter and asked for a message to Daniel Padilla, John Estrada spoke candidly, revealing the admirable traits he personally observed in the actor.

The Good Character of “DJ”

 

Estrada shared that he had the opportunity to work with Daniel Padilla on a film set. Based on this experience, he emphatically stated that DJ is extremely respectful and completely unpretentious (“walang kayabang-yabang” or “walang ka-ere-ere”).

The veteran actor made it a point to consistently share his admiration with Daniel’s mother, Karla Estrada, telling her, “Alam mo ang galing ng pagkapalaki mo sa mga anak mo” (You know, you did a great job raising your children). He particularly emphasized DJ’s exceptional respectfulness, noting that even as a superstar, DJ remains very humble and knows how to show deference to more senior actors (“mga nauna”).

When Estrada was pressed further on whether he would approve of—or “boto”—Daniel Padilla for his daughter Kyla, given the persistent dating rumors, the actor laughed before giving a measured, mature response.

He stated, “If ever, boto ka kung talagang sila? Hindi ko po alam. Bahala na sila. Malalaki na sila.” (If ever, would you approve if they are really together? I don’t know. It’s up to them. They are grown-ups now.)

This response is interpreted by many as an indirect, but clear, sign of approval. By stating that he trusts the two and is leaving the decision to them, it implies that John Estrada respects their relationship. This respect is grounded in his personal knowledge of Daniel Padilla’s good character, coupled with his confidence in the maturity and intelligence of his daughter, Kyla.
