Kris Aquino Expresses Heartfelt Gratitude to Fans Following Surgery
After undergoing a surgical procedure earlier this week, Kris Aquino took to social media in the early hours of August 24, Sunday, to share a message of gratitude to the healthcare team involved in her treatment. The 54-year-old actress and TV host had a port-a-cath implanted on August 20 — a small, implantable device used for long-term intravenous access — just a day before the national holiday commemorating the passing of her father, former Senator Benigno “Ninoy” Aquino, Jr.
In her latest Instagram post, Kris gave fans a closer look at her new implant and shared her thoughts on her current accommodations. “I am out of the hospital, now staying in Makati Diamond Residences. In my opinion, it’s currently the best designed serviced apartment because of the high ceilings, spacious bathroom, very comfortable bed, and lighting that makes everyone look good. It has this luxurious Japanese simplicity,” she wrote.
She also expressed deep appreciation for her medical team, mentioning several doctors by name, including her interventionist cardiologist and cousin-in-law, Dr. Nick Cruz, as well as Dr. Billy and Dr. Ging, one of her rheumatologists. Kris fondly described her interactions with her doctors, especially Dr. Cruz, highlighting his patience with her “never-ending questions” and their playful banter. She noted that Dr. Cruz is the head of the department she is most closely associated with at St. Luke’s Medical Center in Bonifacio Global City.
In the same post, Kris extended her heartfelt thanks to her fans and loyal followers who have been praying for her and her sons during her ongoing battle with multiple autoimmune diseases. “Thank you for caring enough about me, my sons, and the improvement of my health to keep us in your prayers. In one of my recent Bible devotional readings, your actions are called UNMERITED GRACE. Thank you,” she said.
Earlier this month, Kris shared her fears about posting frequent updates on social media, worried that some fans might lose faith in her recovery due to the severity of her health challenges. “On purpose, matagal akong hindi nag-upload. I have to admit if I told you what was happening, some of you may stop praying because my autoimmune diseases were increasing in number & my life-threatening ailments needed me to make a brave choice. Trust me, it’s difficult to accept every night when I sleep that there may be no tomorrow for me,” she revealed.
Kris also opened up about her plans to undergo a new treatment regimen that requires her to go into isolation for six months in her family’s home province of Tarlac. “I came to a decision — I have another 6-8 hour infusion session in 6 days. It’s one of the strongest autoimmune immunosuppressants together with my two others, one taken daily and one given via injection, which will totally wipe out my immunity. I will be in preventive isolation for 6 months. I’ll live in our compound in Tarlac; my Cojuangco cousins and I fondly call it Alto,” she shared.
