Houston Texans linebacker Azeez Al-Shaair is going to be suspended for his actions against Trevor Lawrence.
Lawrence suffered a debilitating injury in the second quarter. Al-Shaair struck him high as he began to slide, causing the quarterback’s head to slam into the turf.
The 25-year-old was helped onto a cart and ruled out with a head injury.

ESPN reported that the NFL will likely suspend Al-Shaair, with the only question being for how long.
Adam Schefter wrote, “It is now anticipated that Texans LB Azeez Al-Shaair will be suspended for the hit that he delivered Sunday to Jaguars QB Trevor Lawrence.”
The controversial play sparked a fight between the two teams, which had one player on the Jaguars ejected along with Azeez Al-Shaair.
Trevor Lawrence updated his condition Sunday night in an X post, saying he was “home and feeling better” and thanking fans for their prayers.
Joe Mixon ran for 101 yards and a touchdown, Nico Collins caught eight passes for 119 yards, and the Houston Texans beat Jacksonville 23-20. C.J. Stroud completed 22 of 34 passes for 242 yards and a touchdown.
Lawrence was 4-of-10 for 41 yards and had an interception on his return to play on Sunday.
Houston Texans Linebacker Azeez Al-Shaair Apologizes To Trevor Lawrence
Azeez Al-Shaair apologized Monday for his brutal hit on Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence.
Al-Shaair was ejected from Sunday’s win over the Jaguars after he shockingly launched his body into the head and neck of Lawrence, who had given himself up with a feet-first slide.
Lawrence’s head bounced off the turf, and his hands went into a fencing position.
“I genuinely didn’t see him sliding until it was too late. And it all happens in the blink of an eye. To Trevor I genuinely apologize to you for what ended up happening. Before the game we spoke and I told you how it was great to see you back on the field and wished you well. I would never want to see any player hurt because of a hit I put on them, especially one that’s deemed ‘late’ or ‘unnecessary,’” Al-Shaair posted to X and his Instagram stories.
