Sauce Walka Explains Why He Called Out Drake For Cultural Appropriation

Sauce Walka is doubling down on his claims that Drake is “using” Houston for personal gain.
The Houston native discussed his stance on Drizzy during his interview on The Breakfast Club on Tuesday morning, August 13. Sauce called out the “Uptown” rapper for not making music with Houston artists the way he does with artists in Atlanta. He argued that the only Texas rapper he has songs with is Travis Scott, and asserted their features are “equal trades.” He called out Drake for not uplifting artists from the city he claims he loves so much.
“It’s about fair exchange and business,” Sauce explained. “If you’re using the lineage and the culture of somebody’s city or somebody’s hometown and backyard, do something that helps not only for yourself and your notoriety for your own benefit with the ladies and the people in the city. Do something that actually makes the economy of that city — and musicians — bigger and greater.”
Sauce Walka spoke on Drake after the Toronto native recently relocated to Houston. Last September, the “Houstatlantavegas” rapper purchased a $15 million mansion located 70 miles northwest of Houston in Washington County. He showed off his massive ranch in an Instagram post he made back in June.
For what it’s worth, Drake has collaborated with new Texas artists like 4Batz as well as Houston legends like Bun B. Earlier this year, Drizzy popped out during one of the city’s biggest events RodeoHouston. He pulled up on Bun for a surprise performance during the UGK rapper’s headlining set. The 37-year-old artist performed hits like “SICKO MODE” and “November 18th.” Drake also supported Bun last year when he visited his Trill Burgers restaurant in Houston.
