Alden Richards and Kathryn Bernardo Crowned Phenomenal Box Office King and Queen at 2025 Box Office Entertainment Awards
Alden Richards and Kathryn Bernardo were named the Phenomenal Box Office King and Queen of Philippine Cinema at the 2025 Box Office Entertainment Awards presented by the Guillermo Mendoza Memorial Scholarship Foundation, Inc. (GMMSFI). The pair earned the prestigious titles for their record-breaking film Hello, Love, Again, the sequel to their 2019 hit Hello, Love, Goodbye.
Released in 2024, Hello, Love, Again grossed an astounding PHP1.6 billion worldwide, making it the highest-grossing Filipino movie of all time. Their victory marks a back-to-back win for the duo, who were also hailed as Box Office King and Queen in 2024.
The awards ceremony recognizes commercial success in the Philippine entertainment industry, celebrating artists, filmmakers, and TV personalities who made a significant impact on audiences.
Aside from Alden and Kathryn, industry veterans Vic Sotto and Piolo Pascual were honored as Film Actors of the Year for their performances in The Kingdom, a collaboration that marked their first time working together on a major film project.
Actress Marian Rivera took home the Film Actress of the Year award for her role in Balota, a socially relevant entry in the Cinemalaya Philippine Independent Film Festival.
For television, Jericho Rosales and Jodi Sta. Maria were named Primetime TV Actor and Actress of the Year for their performances in Lavender Fields, a gripping family drama that captivated audiences and critics alike.
Richard Yap and Jillian Ward, stars of the long-running daytime series Abot-Kamay Na Pangarap, were awarded Daytime TV Actor and Actress of the Year.
Rising love team Donny Pangilinan and Belle Mariano, popularly known as DonBelle, were dubbed the Prince and Princess of Philippine Entertainment, continuing their reign as one of the country’s most popular onscreen couples.
In the supporting categories for movies, Ruru Madrid (for Green Bones) and Joross Gamboa (for Hello, Love, Again) were named Movie Supporting Actors of the Year, while Nadine Lustre won Movie Supporting Actress of the Year for her haunting performance in Uninvited.
John Estrada, who appears in FPJ’s Batang Quiapo, was honored as TV Supporting Actor of the Year, while Janine Gutierrez earned the TV Supporting Actress title for Lavender Fields.
Hosting honors went to Robi Domingo as Male TV Host of the Year and Anne Curtis as Female TV Host of the Year.
In the love team categories, the popular pairing of Kim Chiu and Paulo Avelino (KimPau) was declared Most Popular Love Team of Philippine Entertainment, while the tandem of Maris Racal and Anthony Jennings, who starred in the viral film Sosyal Climbers, received the title of Most Promising Love Team.
Veteran entertainers Roderick Paulate and Maricel Soriano were honored as Comedy Actor and Actress of the Year, respectively.
Child actor Raphael Landicho was named Most Popular Child Performer for his performance in Voltes V: Legacy.
In the music division, P-pop girl group BINI took home two major awards: Concert of the Year for BINIverse, and Recording/Streaming Group of the Year.
Former couple and respected performers Martin Nievera and Pops Fernandez were named Male and Female Concert Performers of the Year, while TJ Monterde won Recording/Streaming Artist of the Year.
Hello, Love, Again was also recognized with the Best Ensemble Acting for Movies award, while Lavender Fields received Best Ensemble Acting for Television.
In the television program categories, 24 Oras was named Popular TV Program – News & Public Affairs, FPJ’s Batang Quiapo won Popular TV Program – Primetime Drama, and Abot-Kamay Na Pangarap received Popular TV Program – Afternoon Drama. Family Feud Philippines took the title of Popular TV Program – Talent Search/Reality/Game Show, while ASAP Natin ‘To was awarded Popular TV Program – Musical-Variety/Noontime/Primetime.
For production honors, ABS-CBN Studios and GMA Pictures were named Most Popular Film Producers, while the acclaimed filmmaker Cathy Garcia-Sampana won Most Popular Film Director for Hello, Love, Again.
Screenwriters Carmi Raymundo, Crystal Hazel San Miguel, and Olive Lamasan were recognized as Most Popular Screenwriters for penning the script of the record-breaking film.
The Box Office Entertainment Awards 2025 awards night will take place on June 28, 2025, at the CPR Auditorium in RCBC Building, Ayala Avenue, Makati City. The event will be broadcast on the Kapamilya Channel and iWantTFC on July 13.
Special recognition was also given to legends of Philippine entertainment. Jimmy Santos received the Bert Marcelo Lifetime Achievement Award, Tirso Cruz III was honored with the Corazon Samaniego Lifetime Achievement Award, and Homer Flores was awarded the George Canseco Lifetime Achievement Award.
The 2025 edition of the Box Office Entertainment Awards highlighted not only the box office triumphs of stars like Alden Richards and Kathryn Bernardo but also celebrated the strength, resilience, and evolution of Philippine entertainment across film, television, and music.
