William Nylander lifts the lid on $300M Maple Leafs super fan Justin Bieber
William Nylander is no stranger to life as a celebrity. Since being drafted by the Toronto Maple Leafs back in 2014, the Swedish forward has grown to become one of stars of the NHL.
While Nylander’s claim to fame is his hockey prowess, for Maple Leafs super fan Justin Bieber, it’s been his music. Estimated by Forbes to be worth $300 million USD as of 2024, Bieber has accumulated his millions from record deals, endorsements and other entertainment ventures.
Thus Nylander was pleasantly surprised to see the Canadian’s hockey skills live in action at the 2024 NHL All-Star event. Speaking to People.com, Nylander said of Bieber’s hockey skills:
“He was way better than I expected. We were having a blast.”
Justin Bieber was the celebrity captain for Team Matthews at the event held in February at Scotiabank Arena. He was seen warming up in full uniform and even celebrated a 7-4 win against Team McDavid in the final of the 3-on-3 event of the tournament.
Bieber has been a well-know Maple Leafs die-hard for years now. He’s been spotted supporting Toronto on multiple occasions from the stands. The superstar previously collaborated with the team to launch limited edition flipside jerseys.
William Nylander addresses Toronto Maple Leafs’ early powerplay woes
The Toronto Maple Leafs have gotten off to 2-1 start under new head coach Craig Berube. While there are plenty of positives to take away from the wins against the Pittsburgh Penguins and New Jersey Devils, thepowerplay has been an issue of concern.
“We’ve just got to simplify. Like I said the other day, it’s early in the season; we’ll get clicking.”
The Toronto Maple Leafs play the next three games on the road against the Los Angeles Kings, New York Rangers and Tampa Bay Lightning. Facing off against quality opposition, fans hope that the powerplay line can get into gear and guide the Leafs to three important wins away from home.
