Sources spoke to multiple outlets about the breakup and the couple’s future amid Fox’s pregnancy.

Megan Fox chose to put an end to her tumultuous romance with Machine Gun Kelly at the end of November, TMZ revealed yesterday. Now, more sources have spoken out to Us Weekly, Page Six, and Entertainment Tonight about what led her to the decision. Collectively, the insiders paint a picture of a passionate on-off relationship that was less stable than it appeared publicly. Fox had longtime trust issues with Kelly and reached her breaking point, multiple sources said. The couple is currently expecting their first child together.

Sources told TMZ that the actress “found material on MGK’s phone that was upsetting, and it made her want him to leave [their Thanksgiving] trip early.”

A source gave Page Six similar intel. “When they went away for the Thanksgiving holiday, she became suspicious and decided to go through his phone,” the source shared. “[She] found text messages involving other women and decided she was done.”

The insider added that her “trust issues” with Kelly were “because of past behavior.” She had wanted to move past it and “rebuild her trust with [him],” the source shared, adding Fox “was excited to grow their family together.”

But she is fine being single too, the source added: “Megan is a strong, independent woman and doesn’t need a man in her life.”

Us Weekly’s source revealed that Fox and Kelly “have broken up several times since the pregnancy was announced. This was just one of the bigger ones that people have heard about.”

The insider added, “Their relationship is so full of passion and that leads them to get back together over and over, but also to fight in the most toxic of ways. Their fights have gotten less intense now that MGK is sober, but they still have such a hard time having a stable relationship with each other.”

Entertainment Tonight’s source said this may not be the end for them. “Megan and MGK are not together right now, but that could easily change in the future,” the insider said. “They have been on and off throughout their relationship, but have a deep love for each other and connection and that doesn’t just go away.

“They still have some trust issues to work through and they can both be emotional and impulsive at times,” the source added. “The two of them want to focus on Megan’s wellbeing for the future of their baby.”

Fox announced her pregnancy on November 11. TMZ reported yesterday that she is due in March.

Neither Fox nor Kelly has commented on the breakup reports. This past March, Fox spoke on Call Her Daddy about why she was no longer talking about their relationship publicly. She confirmed on the show she and Kelly had called off their engagement before.

“I think that what I’ve learned from being in this relationship is that it’s not for public consumption,” she said. “So I think, as of now, I don’t have a comment on the status of the relationship, per se. What I can say is that [he] is what I refer to as being my ‘twin soul,’ and there will always be a tether to him, no matter what. I can’t say for sure what the capacity will be, but I will always be connected to him somehow. Beyond that, I’m not willing to explain. All those things you said were accurate things that have occurred [that the couple got engaged, called it off, and now aren’t speaking publicly about their relationship status]. And I could see them being confusing, or interesting to people, and them being like, ‘What’s up?’”
