The Manchester City super-fan unleashed his tirade in response to goading fans
Oasis frontman Liam Gallagher has sparked controversy by claiming his band “p*** all over the Beatles” during a heated exchange on social media platform X.
The 52-year-old rock star made the bold statement after a fan criticised Oasis whilst responding to Gallagher’s comments about Manchester City’s 2-0 defeat to Liverpool.
After the defeat, the 52-year-old posted: “The 52-year-old Man city were absolutely TURDOS yesterday yet only 1-0 down 78 mins in Liverpool ain’t all that so they need to calm the f**k down MCFC CHAMPIONS LG x”
The heated exchange began when a social media user responded: “Oasis wasn’t all that either mate let’s be honest the Beatles were a better band just saying as you were sausage.”
Gallagher’s response was characteristically blunt, declaring: “We p*** all over the Beatles.”
The comment came amid a flurry of responses to Gallagher’s post about Manchester City’s defeat to Liverpool.

When another fan questioned his Beatles devotion, asking “Weren’t you the Beatles and Lennon obsessed huh?”, Gallagher replied: “Yeah still am but not as much as I am with Oasis we rule.”
Both Liam and Noel Gallagher have demonstrated their Beatles appreciation through numerous cover performances over the years.
Oasis famously covered Beatles classics including I Am The Walrus and Helter Skelter during their career.
Noel Gallagher collaborated with Paul Weller in 2007 for a performance of ‘All You Need is Love’, while Liam has continued performing Beatles covers in his solo shows.

As recently as last year, Liam Gallagher praised The Beatles’ final song ‘Now and Then’, describing it as “absolutely incredible biblical celestial heartbreaking and heartwarming all at the same time long live The Beatles LG x.”
Despite fans suggesting Oasis wouldn’t exist without The Beatles’ influence, Gallagher firmly rejected this notion.
“Corse we would have what you talking about Willis,” he responded when challenged about his band’s musical origins.
The exchange highlighted Gallagher’s fierce defence of Oasis’s independent legacy, even while maintaining his respect for The Beatles.
His comments demonstrate the complex relationship between his admiration for The Beatles and his belief in Oasis’s own musical achievements.
The social media debate has sparked discussions among fans about the relative merits of both legendary British bands.
The Gallagher brothers are preparing for their 2025 reunion tour following a decades long feud.
They were previously subject to outrage as fans were forced to pay huge “dynamic pricing” sums for tickets to the long-awaited Oasis revival tour.
