WB Rebooting Harry Potter as J.K. Rowling Reportedly "Requested an Insane Amount" to Let Go of $9.58B Franchise

After surrounding herself in controversy and backlash the Harry Potter author has raised some eyebrows. J.K. Rowling made some insensitive comments about the transgender community, after which people in Hollywood do not want to associate or work with her.

This was reflected during the Harry Potter 20th Anniversary: Return to Hogwarts which was released on HBO Max. J.K. Rowling was nowhere to be found, sources concurred that it was due to her comments against the LGBTQ+ community that WB could not have her on board.

J.K. Rowling demands a heavy sum to let go of the Harry Potter franchise

J.K. Rowling’s scornful comments against the transgender community have cast a shadow on the franchise. Yet there were initial talks of making Harry Potter and the Cursed Child into a film, but the idea was shot down.

Jeff Sneider reports on the Hot Mic Podcast that Emma Watson and others are unwilling to come on board with Rowling being a part of the project. In light of their protest, J.K. Rowling was asked to let go of the franchise but demanded a huge sum to sell her franchise.

Finally, the studio had no option but to trash the idea. Rowling agreed to renew the franchise in the form of a series, and according to many new reports from Deadline and Bloomberg it seems that an HBO Max series is in the works based on the seven Harry Potter books.

The Harry Potter show will have seven seasons

The reboot of the franchise brings about heated and passionate debate. Many are nostalgic and reluctant to accept new casting for the reboot, they feel that the movies are an icon. To be fair the movies are good but not iconic, there were numerous discrepancies, plot holes, and characters arcs left open.

Even when the films had released there was a lot of criticism around it. The reboot will give the makers a chance to incorporate all of the feedback and build a more immersive world. All characters and story arcs can be completed, with more diverse casting and fool-proof scripts.

J.K. Rowling

J.K. Rowling The Harry Potter show will have seven seasons, so every season will be based on each book, and like that there can easily be seven seasons. The author of the books will continue to play an active role in the whole process. It might raise some flags and backlash, but the reboot in itself is a little bit of a gamble which has become more dangerous after Rowling’s public comments about the LGBTQ community.
