LeBron James walks away as JJ Redick seemingly yells at him and rookie Dalton Knecht over missed assignment (Image Source: Imagn)
LeBron James and rookie Dalton Knecht seemed to be on the end of an earful from Lakers coach JJ Redick on Wednesday. After the first-quarter buzzer-beating 3 from LeBron, Redick was seemingly angry about a missed coverage from the four-time MVP and Knecht. He stopped LeBron from walking to the bench and held Knecht, too.
However, LeBron walked away from the spot after being hyped for his 3-point buzzer beat that put the Lakers up 38-26. Here’s a video of the incident:
There was a miscue in LeBron and Knecht’s two-man play. It seemed like the ball was supposed to land in Knecht’s hands for the final shot, but LeBron took it after Luke Kennard read the play and glided toward the Lakers rookie.
However, two of JJ Redick’s key demands for the team are execution and attention to detail. He’s shown an obsession for the team to perfect their plays as much as possible.
It’s no surprise that he wanted his players to know at that point that they should have done a better job on their assignment.
LeBron James remains hot from 3-point range this season
LeBron James continued to thrive from the 3-point line against the Memphis Grizzlies. Coming into the game, he was shooting a career-high 44.4% from distance.
LeBron made four 3-pointers in the first half alone. He scored 20 points in the opening 24 minutes as the Lakers took a one-point lead entering halftime.
LeBron led all scorers on the night after Anthony Davis struggled against the Grizzlies’ defense. Davis only had two attempts converted in the entire first half.
The Lakers struggled to open the second half despite LeBron’s highly efficient game. They gave up a 7-0 run to begin the third quarter and trailed by eight points with 6:43 left.
