The game between the Vancouver Canucks and Ottawa Senators on Saturday night featured some intense fights in the third period. With just over six minutes left to play, Senators captain Brady Tkachuk and Canucks forward Dakota Joshua dropped the gloves and went at it.
Tkachuk landed several heavy right hands that stunned Joshua. Though Joshua managed to get a few hits, Tkachuk was in control for most of the fight, repeatedly rocking Joshua with vicious haymakers. The linesmen eventually moved in to break it up. Both received a fighting penalty.

Joshua recently came back after beating testicular cancer. He joined the team this month playing his fifth game after missing training camp and the first few weeks of the season.
Just over a minute later, another fight broke out between Ottawa’s Tim Stützle and Vancouver’s Nils Höglander. After Höglander missed a scoring chance in front of the Senators’ goal, Stützle gave him a shove from behind. Höglander took exception and the two dropped their gloves for a spirited tilt.
Both Stützle and Höglander landed a couple of punches in a relatively even affair. The linesmen allowed intervened to break it up.
Both Höglander and Stützle received roughing minors for their involvement in the fight. Ultimately, the Canucks hold on for a 4-3 victory.
Ottawa Senators HC Travis Green comments on Brady Tkachuk’s fight with Dakota Joshua
Ottawa Senators head coach Travis Green commented on Brady Tkachuk’s fight with Dakota Joshua. Green said Tkachuk is an emotional player and doesn’t want to take away his passion or emotion.
“He’s an emotional guy, you know, I’m not going to take away his passion and his emotion. And we’re gonna coach Brady, you know, every player you coach a little different, but I’m not gonna harness his, you know, or take away his passion, his emotion. Quite frankly, it might have got us back in the game a little bit,” Green said.
The Senators coach indicated he would coach Tkachuk differently than other players given his emotional style of play. Brady Tkachuk, Claude Giroux and Tim Stutzle scored for the Senators.
Jake DeBrusk (two goals), Kiefer Sherwood and Teddy Blueger scored for Vancouver. Kevin Lankinen stopped 26 shots while Linus Ullmark made 17 saves in the loss.
Next, the Senators will face the Calgary Flames on Monday at Canadian Tire Centre.
