Kevin King, the Los Angeles Dodgers fan who blew his hand to bits while celebrating the team’s World Series win, has offered an update on his progress.
King, who was shown on video holding fireworks as they exploded in his hand, has been through four surgeries since the horrifying incident.
“If you’re only losing a couple of fingers, don’t worry about it,” he told TMZ. “Thankful it wasn’t my face, eye or ears.”
He has also shared several photos of his hand, which you can find on his Instagram account here. But we have to warn that they’re graphic, so do proceed with caution.
Kevin King Has Not Heard Back From The Los Angeles Dodgers
Kevin King could undergo a fifth surgery as doctors seek to repair his hand, but he hopes to avoid returning to the operating table.
The young fan also revealed having reached out to the Dodgers through their social media pages but hasn’t heard back, though we’re not sure why, as the team had nothing to do with his injury.
“In the end, King said he isn’t looking for sympathy from anyone … but hopes to serve as an example to others — and leave the fireworks to the professionals,” TMZ noted.
The GoFundMe page set up in King’s name had raised over $11,000 at the time of writing, something he’s extremely grateful for.
He told the publications the donations “haven’t gone unnoticed.”
