Neto Okpala and the Eagles were leading 28-13 with six and a half minutes remaining in the fourth quarter against the Seminoles. After DJ Uiagalelei completed a short pass to Deuce Spann to bring up fourth down, Okpala got into a confrontation with Florida State offensive lineman TJ Ferguson.

Ferguson gave Okpala a minor shove during the altercation, and the latter put together a Broadway play-like performance by flopping big-time. To make matters worse for FSU, the referees bought the flop and issued Ferguson an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty, leading to this priceless “Griddy” celebration by Okpala:

The video of Neto Okpala’s flop and Griddy celebration quickly went viral and led to all sorts of priceless reactions from fans on social media:

Okpala was one of the Eagles’ best performers on Monday night, finishing with four tackles, one sack and 1.5 tackles for loss. Boston College’s stunning 15-point upset win dropped the No. 10 ranked Seminoles to 0-2 on the season.

Neto Okpala is in his fourth season with the Eagles, having debuted in the 2021 campaign. To date, he has 63 total tackles, three pass breakups, five sacks and one forced fumble.

Boston College Will Try To Continue Momentum On Saturda

The Eagles pulled off one of the biggest Week 1 upsets with their win against a Florida State team that was controversially excluded from the four-team College Football Playoff a year ago. Now, they turn their focus to the Duquesne Dukes.

The Dukes lost their season opener to Toledo 49-10 last Thursday. They’ll try to bounce back now and play spoiler in the Eagles’ home opener at Alumni Stadium this Saturday.

As for the Seminoles, they’ll try to bounce back on Saturday with a home contest against the Memphis Tigers at noon EST.
