New Orleans Pelicans forward Zion Williamson finds his future with both his agency and team clouded by uncertainty. Before making his NBA debut, Williamson signed with Creative Artists Agency (CAA), aligning with one of the industry’s most prestigious sports agencies after his standout NCAA career.
However, reports suggest that his relationship with CAA may be in jeopardy as his ongoing struggles with injuries continue to raise questions about his long-term potential. According to The Athletic’s Joe Vardon and Sam Amick, Williamson is not close to returning from a hamstring injury sustained during a November 6 loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers.
This ongoing setback has limited him to just six games this season. The situation also casts a shadow over his contract with the Pelicans, as Williamson’s extensive injury history has hindered his ability to consistently contribute on the court.
Injuries have been a recurring theme for Williamson throughout his young career. During the 2022–23 season, he missed the final 53 games due to a right hamstring injury. Since being drafted as the first overall pick in 2019, he has played in fewer than 50% of the Pelicans’ games.
Zion Williamson Shares Update on Rehab Progress
After the New Orleans Pelicans’ recent loss to the Golden State Warriors, Zion Williamson spoke to reporters about his ongoing rehabilitation process. The Pelicans forward provided some insight into his recovery journey, expressing both optimism and frustration.
“When I left the arena, I felt fine. No problems, no nothing. Got up the next day and came in for treatments, and felt more sore than usual. Got it checked out. It wasn’t what I wanted to hear,” Williamson said.
Without Williamson, the Pelicans now sit at a 4-13 record. Before his injury, he was averaging 22.7 points, 8 rebounds, and 5.3 assists per game.
