At a recent Raptors game, Drake threatened to “take down” any banner hung in DeRozan’s honor, despite the player’s nine seasons with the team. DeRozan responded with a nonchalant “good luck.”

During a recent Toronto Raptors vs Sacramento Kings game, Canadian rap star Drake dropped a bombshell warning: if Toronto ever hangs a banner in honor of their former star player DeMar DeRozan, he will personally “take it down.” This threat might seem to come out of left field, but the animosity between the former friends traces back to DeRozan’s appearance in Kendrick Lamar’s “Not Like Us” music video last summer. The video was aired amidst Lamar’s beef with Drake, solidifying a rift that appears irreparable.

Drake, seated courtside and captured on video, was seen calling DeRozan a “p***y” after the Kings’ narrow 128-131 defeat. DeRozan, who seemed unfazed by Drake’s antics, responded to an interviewer about the banner comment with nonchalance. “He gone have a long way to climb to take it down so tell him good luck.” This back-and-forth highlights a dramatic turn in what was once a strong friendship, adding a layer of spectacle to the already thrilling game.
