While celebrities often portray an overtly glamorous life that the public cannot hope to replicate sometimes the rich and famous show they’re just like us regular people.

Suranne Jones took to her Instagram on Wednesday to share a snap of herself swapping luxury modes of transport to travel by tube in London.

But her followers were left stunned as the actress, 45, appeared to go completely unnoticed by her fellow passengers on the Piccadilly line.

The photo showed the Vigil star sharing a sly smile with the camera as she sat in the train carriage next to two oblivious male commuters.

Suranne wrapped up warm in a black puffer jacket and carried a large handbag on her lap, while showing off her chic newly cut bob.

She wrote: ‘End of a long creative storylining day with @amoconnor01 and @monumentaltelevision who then invited us to a small private screening of @backtoblackuk.

‘Tube, cuppa and a sleepover. News of our efforts with you soon. Perfect end to a fab day. Sneaky camera work by @amoconnor01’.

But Suranne’s followers couldn’t help but be shocked that she had managed to go unrecognised on her commute.

They commented: ‘How can you not know you’re sat next to Suranne Jones. I would have to chat. You can’t miss an opportunity like that!; I’d totally faint.’

‘Don’t people recognise her?; I was on the same tube line a few times yesterday.. why couldn’t I have sat next to SJ.. dammit!!’

‘How are your fellow passengers not taking a selfie?; Imagine sitting next to Suranne not knowing Suranne.’

While others praised the Gentleman Jack star for using the humble underground, writing: ‘So nice to see such a big star doing normal stuff like getting a busy tube, a lot of actors feel they don’t want spotted and hide away; So nice to see you travel with public transfer like the subway/underground/train.’

Suranne’s secret new project comes after she said she was looking forward to working behind the camera in future.

While she has many screen acting credits to her name from Coronation Street, to Scott & Bailey and Doctor Foster among others, she said she wants to give more attention to her career as a producer going forward.

She and her husband, former magazine editor Laurence Akers, run a production company together called TeamAkers Productions Ltd, and their show Maryland is set to air on ITV this year.

In December, Suranne explained: ‘Me and my husband, we set up our production company and made Maryland and we just made our first documentary. We just got two commissions that will go into production next year.’

Speaking about taking a step back from the limelight, she gushed: ‘I love it. I’m hoping to eventually make projects that I’m not in. I can have a couple of tea and chill.

‘It would be good to not do everything. But I’m very excited about our projects next year.’
