When it comes to whisky bars, Glasgow is the place to be – and although many tourists might head to Edinburgh for a dram or two, it seems celebrities, singers and Holywood stars know there is only one city to head to when it comes to the national drink.
With a plethora of top spots to choose from across the city, including the likes of the Bon Accord and the Ben Nevis, there are more than a few options for any whisky fans visiting the city.
However, it’s perhaps the most famous of them, which is the biggest draw for those celebrity drinks fans looking for somewhere to wet their whistle while in town.
The world-famous Pot Still on Hope Street has seen some famous names cross through its doors to try out some of the hundreds of whiskies which line its walls.

The city centre fave, which sits not too far from Central Station, is regularly packed with tourists from all around the world brushing shoulders with the city’s students and local whisky fans.
Over the years, the likes of singers such as Ed Sheeran and bands like Hayseed Dixie, Iron Maiden and We Were Promised Jet Packs have all popped in.

Most recently, Mad Men and Firefly star Christina Hendricks, who is currently filming the Apple TV period drama The Buccaneers in the city, quietly posted a selfie enjoying a Glencairn in front of the bar.
There have also been visits from cult TV stars like Toadie from Neighbours, actor Ryan Moloney, and the legendary Shaun Williamson aka Barry from Eastenders, have had their pictures taken in front of that famous gantry.
Originally known as McCall’s – named after original owner William McCall – the pub assumed the title The Pot Still in 1981 after being taken over by John Waterston.
Waterston was keen to turn the bar into the whisky haven it is known as today, hence the name – a piece of equipment historically used to distil alcoholic spirits such as whisky.
Now run by the Murphy family, the bar has grown its whisky offering considerably and now offers around 800 different bottles of whisky with everything from single malts and single grains to whiskies from all around the world.
Next time you’re visiting Glasgow, or maybe just the city centre, pop in for a dram, you never know who you might bump into.
