Snoop Dogg weighs in on the escalating tensions between Kendrick Lamar and Lil Wayne over the 2025 Super Bowl Halftime Show, providing a historical perspective on hip-hop’s representation at the big event.

Snoop Dogg, a legendary figure in hip hop who has served as a mentor to Kendrick Lamar, recently expressed his support for Lamar’s performance at the Super Bowl. During an interview with “Drink Champs”, Snoop criticized Lil Wayne‘s disappointment over not being chosen, suggesting that Wayne should be grateful for the opportunity given to hip hop artists.

“Before Jay-Z got control of the Super Bowl, wasn’t no n***as performing,” Snoop said. “He’s creating a wave of artists that have an opportunity to perform. If you’re a great artist, your time will come.”

Snoop acknowledged that he himself was not upset when he was not chosen for the Halftime Show in the past. “I didn’t feel like I was supposed to be there or in demand to be there,” he said. “People look at everything when they pick the person to perform.”

Snoop’s comments come after Lil Wayne expressed his disappointment at being overlooked for the Super Bowl halftime show in his hometown. “I said to myself, I want to be on stage for the Super Bowl one day in front of my mom. And I worked my a** off to get that f**king position and it was ripped away from me,” Wayne said.

Kendrick Lamar later addressed the controversy on his album “GNX”, rapping about Lil Wayne’s reaction and questioning Snoop Dogg’s motives for promoting Drake‘s music during the rapper’s feud with Wayne.

Despite the drama surrounding the Halftime Show selection, Snoop Dogg emphasized the importance of hip hop’s presence on the biggest musical stage. “You should just be honored that Hip Hop is being able to be seen on that platform for all of us,” he said. “Not hate on the next man, but be happy.”
