Several reports have surfaced that the New York Rangers are set to trade OR place their captain Jacob Trouba on waivers today.
It’s obviously no secret that the New York Rangers have been trying to move Jacob Trouba since the offseason, and today we could finally see that happen as several reports indicate it will happen.
According to Larry Brooks of the New York Post won’t be participating in the Rangers morning skate, and won’t be playing against the Pittsburgh Penguins due to Roster Management.
BREAKING. First shoe/skate is dropping. Post has learned that Jacob Trouba will not be on the ice today for purposes of roster management. Will not play tonight. Expect Victor Mancini to be recslled.
Followed by the report several others have indicated that this is happening because the Rangers are set to place Trouba on waiver or even trade him!

Early reports are indicating Trouba might be imminently traded OR placed on waivers today.
Per league source, Jacob Trouba will not be skating with the #NYR� for «roster management» purposes. Sounds like a ball is in the air, whether it be trade or possible waiving.

It was later confirmed that Trouba’s health wasn’t the issue and that Victor Mancini was called up from the Hartford Wolfpack in the AHL to replace the captain on the lineup:
After all this news broke, NHL insider Pierre LeBrun revealed that the New York Rangers have multiple deals lined up for Trouba, but needed his consent to waive his modified no-trade.
More news confirming what will happen should be confirmed by 2 PM ET if Trouba is placed on waivers or traded.
