Prince William has been deeply hurt by Prince Harry’s bombshell revelations in his memoir, Spare, and the Netflix series Harry & Meghan, according to a royal insider.
Despite King Charles III’s attempts to stay above the family feud, William is reportedly struggling to forgive his younger brother’s public criticisms, especially the attacks involving his wife, Princess Kate Middleton
Royal historian Hugo Vickers recently shared insights into the tensions, suggesting that King Charles has handled the ongoing drama by maintaining a dignified silence.
The King’s silence
“The King hasn’t responded to any of the jabs from Harry or Meghan, which I think has been brilliant,” Vickers remarked. However, he added, “Prince William is rather less forgiving, and in a way, the hurt he feels is greater. Harry went after Catherine, and that’s not something anyone would take lightly.“
Harry’s comments about his brother and sister-in-law weren’t limited to his book; he also touched on their relationship in his Netflix series. Meghan Markle recalled a strained introduction to William and Kate, reflecting on the differences in British formality.
“I was a hugger… but that was really jarring for a lot of Brits,” she said, adding that the formality “carries over on both sides,” which was surprising for her.
The Princess has had enough
The rift has reportedly taken a backseat in the Wales household, as Kate recently faced her own health battles. Christopher Andersen, another royal expert, claimed that Kate, currently in remission, no longer has the energy or time to focus on the family drama.
“She did try over the years and eventually threw up her hands in disgust. Her focus is now on her family and health,” Andersen explained.
While William remains hurt, experts believe Harry may feel the sting of their silent treatment. Broadcaster Helena Chard noted, “Harry will be bothered by the lack of contact, and the royal family knows this.”
