When Soto signs his next contract, he will push several free agents to other teams

Major League Baseball will begin to speed up its moves starting with next Monday’s winter meeting in Dallas, when the destination of Juan Soto is expected to be known, and with it a domino effect that will push other trades and contract signings, including the future of Pete Alonso, for now without news.
MLB expert Andy Martino said in his appearance on SNY’s ‘Mets Hot Stove’ that the case of Pete Alonso will take time to be resolved, after not accepting a $158 million deal some time ago, but his fate will depend on what happens with Juan Soto.
“The Mets’ stance on Alonso is that they appreciate what he does, what he brings and who he is. They like him and that’s their stance on him,” Martino said, adding that he doesn’t think “there’s a lot of people in the industry who believe he’s going to reach that figure [more than $158 million] in free agency.”
Finally, Martino left the question open as to when he will be willing to sign and concluded that “this is going to take a long time to resolve, wherever it goes”.
Juan Soto would push Pete Alonso to the Yankees
Former NFL star Norman Julius ‘Boomer’ Esiason predicted last month that Alonso’s fate would be with the Yankees, according to a report by Essentially Sports.
“He’s going to be a Yankee. If Juan Soto is in right field for the Mets, Pete Alonso is at first base for the Yankees. I assure you,” said ‘Boomer’ Esiason, a former quarterback who played 14 seasons in the NFL and mainly shone for the Cincinnati Bengals.
Although Boomer’s prediction might make sense, for the Mets money is not a problem, as billionaire Steve Cohen has the biggest bank account among all MLB team owners, so it would not be surprising if he could convince Juan Soto and also make a proposal to Alonso.
