Penguins fans are excited after Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin led the team to a preseason win. Crosby scored two goals and Malkin had a hat trick, helping the Pittsburgh defeat the Ottawa Senators 5-2.
The game took place in Sudbury, Ontario, where the crowd saw the Pens’ show. Malkin’s third goal came late in the game, sealing the victory. The Penguins’ Twitter account celebrated the moment, posting:
“GENO HAT TRICK! 🎩🎩🎩 It’s 5-2 Pens with 2:16 remaining in the game.”

Malkin and Crosby keeping the Penguins competitive

The Senators led 2-1 in the first period with goals from Nick Cousins and Tim Stutzle. Sidney Crosby tied the game and Evgeni Malkin scored twice in the second period to give the Pittsburgh a 3-2 lead.
The Pens were outshot 30-19 but stayed in control. Crosby added a power-play goal in the third period and Malkin finished the game with an empty-net goal. Malkin also had an assist, making it a four-point game for him. Kris Letang chipped in two assists for Pittsburgh.
Goaltender Tristan Jarry stopped 24 of 26 shots before Filip Larsson replaced him, making four saves. Senators goalie Anton Forsberg made 14 saves on 18 shots.
The Penguins will next play the Detroit Red Wings, while the Senators face the Montreal Canadiens. Crosby said he was happy to get some game time as the season approaches.
