Patrick Kane's retirement plans leaked by NHL insider

Patrick Kane was a Chicago Blackhawk for 16 years, got traded to the New York Rangers, and is now playing for the Detroit Red Wings and is a seasoned veteran.

Kane, to most fans, is still at the near top of his game. However, to a small amount, Kane is a veteran who has lost his touch, or is just not liked, and that he should retire. And that’s how he is to this person.

Kane is up there in age at 35, but is still performing on a high level. Kane is a three-time Stanley Cup champion and is known for his dynamic duo with Jonathan Toews and Artemi Panarin. Kane had over 1,000 points during his time with Chicago and his best season came in 2018 when he had 110 points in 81 games.

On the Rangers a couple years ago, Kane proved himself to be a valuable asset there, as well. Kane tallied 12 points in 19 games along with having a goal and five assists in the playoffs in 2022.

Kane then signed with longtime rival Detroit Red Wings halfway during last season and had 20 goals and 47 points in 50 games. This year he has eight points in 13 games.

So, no, he shouldn’t retire. He has an established relationship with Alex DeBrincat, who play so well together. Plus, he adds some mixed veteran presence that’s needed there and can help a semi-young roster. Kane can still go. It may not be how it was last decade, but he’s not a pushover, either.

Red Wings fans should be lucky to have him, and since they’re just one game out of the last wild card spot, he can help them out and get them over the hump.
