Ed Sheeran and his wife Cherry Seaborn are celebrating the birth of their second child, a baby girl.

Surprising fans, Sheeran posted an adorable picture of baby socks to Instagram last night.

He wrote: “Want to let you all know we’ve had another beautiful baby girl.”

“We are both so in love with her, and over the moon to be a family of 4 x.”

He has not yet shared the name of their newest addition.

The couple had their first daughter, Lyra Antarctica Seaborn Sheeran, in August 2020.

Ed announced the birth the same way, sharing a photograph of a baby blanket with a pair of tiny socks.

They referred to her as a miracle, as they had booked doctors appointments to check their fertility after “trying to have a kid for a while”.

Lyra was then conceived naturally during a holiday in Antarctica, inspiring her unusual name.

Ed Sheeran has remained mostly private about his relationship with Cherry, despite being frequently in the spotlight for his music.

He announced in 2018 that they were engaged, and confirmed in 2019 that they were husband and wife, but did not share any details or photographs of the wedding.

While the birth comes as a surprise to fans who did not know the couple were expecting a baby, Ed had previously opened up about wanting another child.

Speaking on the Open house Party podcast in June, Ed said “I would obviously be super grateful to be able to have any more kids, but I think girls are far superior to boys. As a boy myself, I feel like I can say this.”

“I feel like we were so lucky to be able to have one that I think I would obviously love more. But I think we’re so lucky to just have one. So if nothing else happens, I’m so happy, basically.”
