The Oilers organization felt that the festivities didn’t have to end after they honored Connor McDavid with his 1000-point night.

After the game, all players remained in their stalls wearing a custom T-shirt that was designed well in advance of this celebration when he scored his 1000th point which drew a quick comment for McDavid to Leon Draisaitl who chose the picture.

Assistant equipment manager Brad Harrison gave a great speech to how several of the main players helped him get to his thousand games including nine training staff
and 64 coaches which drew a big laugh by all the players.

Oilers defenseman Darnell Nurse wheeled in a large cake with the hilarious picture and 1000 games for McDavid as he got up to thank everybody and had a good chuckle.

It was clear that McDavid was overwhelmed with his support from his teammates and his organization and began to be choked up when describing how he felt about achieving the 1000 points. It was also visible that many of his teammates were proud of him and emotional as he described how he felt.

McDavid season has taken off since the Oilers have broken through their inconsistencies and have become the dominant team once again.

Through 29 games, he has scored fifteen goals with 30 assists for 45 points as a + 9 and has been a factor in his last five games with two goals and 6 assists for 8 points in five games.

The Oilers last 10 games, they have gone 8-2-0 and have skyrocketed in the standings now sitting third overall in the Pacific division and 5th in their conference which has nestled them into a playoff spot.

With their improved play, it’s now important the oilers continue to do their best and it’s likely to happen as McDavid and the rest of his team are showing what they should be as the season drags on into the new year.
