As the 2024-25 season begins, LeBron James and his son Bronny will become the first father-son NBA duo to play in the same team. Many fans doubt the 19-year-old guard playing with his father, LeBron, in the Los Angeles Lakers opening game. However, NBA analyst Zach Lowe believes the other way, and the fans are delighted.
In his recent appearance on the Bill Simmons Podcast, Zach Lowe assured that Bronny and LeBron will play in the Lakers’ opening game to have a “moment together.” The Purple and Gold franchise will face the Minnesota Timberwolves on October 22.
The ESPN NBA analyst said, “He’s 100% playing in the opening game so they can have a moment together. That’s going to happen, so they pass to each other or whatever it ends up being.” Fans reacted on social media, saying that Bronny sharing the court with LeBron during the opening match would be a wholesome moment.
While Bill Simmons claimed it would be one of the “coolest NBA situations” in history, he pointed out Bronny as the focal point for the Lakers in the summer league. He said, “We saw a glimpse of there was already grumblings about the Summer League team about how everything was built around trying to get Bronny to succeed, and the other guys were like, ‘What the f—k.’”
Bronny James Likely To Spend More Time In NBA G League
LeBron’s firstborn had a disappointing run in the NBA 2K25 summer league, averaging 8.8 points, 3.5 rebounds, and one assist per game while shooting 35% from the field and 15.8% from the three-point range in four matches.

Considering the Lakers’ young guard requires improvement to play at a high level in the NBA, Zach Lowe said, “I will be very surprised if he doesn’t spend part of the season in the G-League.”
With the Lakers choosing stability in the free agency trade, Bronny could play a few games for the franchise in the upcoming season. However, since this will be JJ Redick’s first NBA stint as a head coach, he is expected to go with an experienced roster rather than experimenting with new things.
