Tennis legend Martina Navratilova met with “Harry Potter” author J.K. Rowling and the prominent feminist activists of the non-profit organization “The Lesbian Project.” Navratilova, who is a patron of the non-profit organization, shared a photo of their get-together and called the British author “Queen herself.”

Navratilova and Rowling are both household names in their respective fields. Navratilova is widely considered one of the greatest tennis players of all time. The Czech-American is also a vocal advocate for LGBTQ+ rights, having come out as a lesbian in 1981.

Rowling is the author of the bestselling Harry Potter series, which has sold over 600 million copies, and spawned a global media franchise.

On July 10, they joined other members of The Lesbian Project for a dinner at the Il Portico restaurant in London. The non-profit was founded by Julie Bindel, a radical feminist writer and activist, and Kathleen Stock, a British philosopher and writer. The group’s patrons include Navratilova, solicitor Harriet Wistrich and Joanna Cherry, a former MP, among others.

Navratilova shared a picture of their get-together on X (formerly Twitter) where she can be seen sitting alongside Rowling, the group members, and her 14-year-old mini dachshund.

“What an amazing evening this was, meeting Joanna, Kathleen and the Queen herself, J.K.Rowling for the first time, truly outstanding- thanks Julie and Harriet for arranging!!!” Navratilova wrote.

The meeting of these influential women is significant as they have faced backlash for their views on gender identity and transgender rights. Navratilova and Rowling have both been accused of being transphobic and TERFs (trans-exclusionary radical feminists) for expressing their concerns about the impact of transgender inclusion on women’s sports and spaces. They have constantly stood together in support of each other on these issues.

Martina Navratilova voiced support for J.K. Rowling’s argument against gender-transitioning kids

Former WTA No. 1 Martina Navratilova supported J.K. Rowling’s critique of a doctor’s approach to gender-transitioning children.

A couple of months ago, a video emerged of a doctor discussing his method for transitioning children. Noticing the video, Rowling took issue with their approach, saying they didn’t properly evaluate the children before transitioning them. She further called the doctor’s method the “medical scandal of the century.”

“The Cass Report has revealed how very poor the evidence base is for transitioning children. We already know autistic, same-sex attracted and trauma-experienced youth are over-represented at gender clinics. Nevertheless, this man boasts about conducting zero psychological evaluation of children, proud that there’s no ‘battery of tests’, explaining that he simply asks the child what their (unprovable, unfalsifiable) ‘gender identity’ is,” Rowling wrote on X (formerly Twitter).

“The subtext is clear: unlike the worried parents, he’s the cool dude who really gets what kids want. How can anyone still believe this won’t come to be seen as the medical scandal of the century?”

Martina Navratilova, echoing Rowling’s concerns about the lack of caution, described the doctor’s approach as “criminal.”
