Todo comenzaría tras unos comentarios del regiomontano en el que aseguraba que Wendy le ganaría a Maripily en un reality.
El programa matutino Hoy Día fue escenario de un intenso enfrentamiento entre Maripily Rivera y Poncho de Nigris. La discusión se desató luego de que Poncho insinuara que Wendy Guevara, ganadora de La Casa de los Famosos México, sería superior a Maripily en un reality show.
La boricua no tardó en defenderse con contundencia. Durante el programa, dirigió un mensaje directo a Poncho.
“Hola Poncho, buenos días mi amor, yo soy el huracán boricua, el huracán de todo el mundo. Yo gané La Casa de los Famosos por ser auténtica y fue el público el que me escogió, ¿ok? Deja de estar mencionando mi nombre porque tú a mí no me conoces. Cuando tú entres a un reality menciona tu nombre, sé auténtico, no seas un mueble más”, expresó.

Maripily también aclaró que no tiene problemas con Wendy Guevara, a quien elogió.
“Yo a Wendy no tengo nada que reclamarle, la conozco, espectacular, la admiro muchísimo, pero ella es ella y yo soy Maripily. Yo no soy un hombre, soy una mujer, pero tengo pantalones para ponerte en tu sitio.”
Poncho responde y la polémica crece
Poncho defendió su postura asegurando que Wendy Guevara tendría más apoyo en un reality
“Pero yo solo dije que Wendy te ganaba a ti 10 veces si entraba a La Casa de los Famosos”, comentó.
Maripily no se quedó callada
“No me gana mi amor, ni me gana ella, ni me ganas tú. Ella tiene su público y yo tengo el mío. Yo voy a entrar a La Casa de los Famosos y me quiero ir a un día de votaciones contigo a ver quién es quién, ¿te atreves?”
La respuesta de Poncho fue directa: “Te pego una arrastrada.”
A lo que Maripily replicó: “Te arrastro yo a ti primero.”
