Leon Draisaitl’s fiancee Celeste Desjardins pens 4-word message after Oilers star reaches major career milestone [Images via IMAGN, IG/@celestedesjardins]
Edmonton Oilers star forward Leon Draisaitl reached an impressive career milestone during their Thursday night game against the Boston Bruins. He recorded his 900th NHL point in the 3-2 overtime win with a three-point performance on the night.
The German forward assisted on all three Oilers goals and inspired his team’s comeback from a 2-0 deficit. At 1:04 in overtime, Draisaitl’s rebound was picked up by Ryan Nugent-Hopkins, who passed it to Mattias Ekholm.
His fiancee, Celeste Desjardins, was quick to react to his 900 NHL point milestone and reshared a celebratory poster from the Oilers’ official Instagram on her own stories.
“So proud of you! 🥺❤️,” she wrote in the caption.

Leon Draisaitl achieved this feat in just 751 games, making him the fifth-fastest non-North American player to reach 900 NHL points. Only Peter Stastny, Jari Kurri, Jaromir Jagr and Nikita Kucherov did it faster. Among active players, he is the fourth-fastest, trailing Connor McDavid, Sidney Crosby and Kucherov.
Leon Draisaitl sends ‘big thank you’ to his teammates and coaches
In the postgame interview, Leon Draisaitl admitted that the team didn’t play well in the first or third period and found it hard to create chances. However, he mentioned that sometimes one has to grind out an ugly win, and they managed to do that.
When asked about his feelings on reaching the 900 NHL point milestone, Draisaitl said:
“Yeah, feels good. You know, it’s a hard league and you learn a lot along the way. Every day you truly learn something new, right? So, obviously proud of myself, but you can’t get to those milestones without teammates and guys trusting you, coaches trusting you.
“So, a big, big thank you goes out to everyone that obviously helped along the way.”
On their defensive effort, Draisaitl claimed that the team did pretty well overall, though there are small areas where it is looking to improve. He also praised goaltender Stuart Skinner for stepping up on the night. When asked about the tough stretch of games ahead against strong teams like Tampa, Vegas and Boston, he said Edmonton can beat anyone on any night.
The German forward has scored 18 points in his last seven games of late. He now leads the NHL with 23 goals this season and sits second in points with 50.
