Klay Thompson embraces his new career chapter

After being a part of the Golden State Warriors for 13 years, Klay Thompson has decided to jump ship and be a Dallas Maverick next season. Being one of the most sought-after free agents in the offseason, Thompson was a prized acquisition for the Mavericks, who are coming off an NBA Finals appearance.

In his introductory speech with the Mavericks, Thompson embraced his new chapter as a player, as he’s set to play with Luka Doncic, and Kyrie Irving, who were one of his former NBA Finals rivals less than a decade ago.

“Whether you play basketball or work in the corporate world or whatever industry, sometimes change can spur greatness,” Thompson said.

“Coming here is just a fresh start and (me) feeling wanted again, I bring great value, and it just gets me excited to go work out after this press conference,” Thompson added. “There were times last year that were tough, where it wasn’t as joyful as it had been in the past. It’s nice to shed that and have a whole new fresh start.”

Thompson averaged 17.9 points per game last season but scored zero points on 10 shot attempts in his final game as a Warrior.
