Juan Soto broke many hearts after choosing the New York Mets over the New York Yankees. Several fans expected Soto to pick the Yanks after his strong chemistry with Aaron Judge and the team. Many were also upset that Soto picked the Mets for an extra five million. However, Soto had his own reason for moving to Queens.
Several fans have called out the slugger for siding with the Mets. One of the Yankees’ biggest fans, actor Nick Turturro Jr., took to social media to vent his frustration on Soto. Turturro called the All-Star a “f*****g fraud” after his first press conference in a Mets uniform.
“Hey Soto, I saw your press conference. You want to say thank you? Want to say thank you to the Yankee fans? No thank you. Thank you would have been coming back to us f*****g fraud,” Turturro said.
It’s not the first time the Hollywood actor has lashed out at Soto. Turturro was distraught when Soto agreed to a $765 million contract with the Mets.
Juan Soto Heaps Huge Praise On The Mets During His Press Conference
Soto is happy to be a Met and start playing in Queens. The 26-year-old heaped huge praise on the franchise and its competitive mindset. Soto said that he decided to sign with the Mets mainly because he sees a bright future.
“The future that this team has, it had a lot to do with my decision. What they showed me, and how the organization runs things, and how they’re gonna manage things, and how they look at their future – that was one of the things that opened my eyes a little bit more,” Soto said.
The slugger has set his priorities right, but Yankees fans are expected to hate him. Since the Mets and Yankees are crosstown rivals, fans will naturally boo Juan Soto when he enters Yankee Stadium for the Subway Series.
The Yanks have moved on from Soto and are now predicted to sing Cody Bellinger. The Yankees are expected to go all and add more players to their squad.
