Narinder Kaur made an ‘insensitive’ comment about Kate, following her engagements over the weekend

TV presenter Narinder Kaur has revealed that the police are now involved after she was criticised for asking a ‘disgusting’ question about Kate Middleton this week.

It all kicked off on Twitter when Kaur quoted a tweet from the Daily Mail Online about the Princess of Wales’ ‘aged’ appearance at the Remembrance Sunday memorial.

Kate, 42, attended two events over the weekend – the Festival of Remembrance on Saturday (9 November) and the Cenotaph’s Remembrance Sunday service the following day.

Speaking of Kate, who announced she finished her chemotherapy treatment in early September, Kaur, 51, wrote: “Genuine question – why has Kate aged so much? Isn’t she only 42?”

Kaur added: “Is she a smoker? It’s the only explanation.”

The tweet caused major outrage online, with royal fans horrified over the tweet.

Kaur later admitted the comment she made was ‘stupid’ and ‘insensitive’, but revealed she has also been met with an avalanche of ‘sexual, racial, [and] violent abuse’.

In a video also posted on Twitter, she explained: “I put out a stupid tweet – that wasn’t my intention.

“My intention was not to be malicious or nasty or anything.”

She continued: “It was stupid to ask about the ageing I’ve admitted that, and I put my hands up, and I’ve apologised if it caused offence.

“The only people who were offended though, because many people on Twitter and social media asked exactly what I’ve asked, but did not receive the sexual, racial, violent abuse that I did from accounts with EDL flags, Union Jacks, disgusting abuse.

“I asked about ageing. I didn’t kill kids. I didn’t wish death on anyone. I didn’t do anything like that. I asked about aging, and if she smoked, nothing to do with cancer at all.”

She also commented: “She’s [Kate] near enough a year off work. Of course it must take its toll… Kate does have a lot of privilege there. I’m not excusing my tweet but I’m saying you’re all mad at me.”

Kaur explained the trolling she has received has become so severe that she’s had to contact the police.

“The abuse, like you said you’ve not even showed the worst of it, has gone to the Metropolitan Police, it’s that bad,” she told the Jeremy Vine Show.

“… I’ve had all kinds of threats and that doesn’t equate to a woman just asking ‘Does Kate Middleton smoke?’ It doesn’t match, it doesn’t tally.”
