Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson made a rather dramatic entrance to the team’s joint practice session with the Green Bay Packers on Thursday.
Lamar Jackson rode a bike into the Ravens-Packers practice session and even stopped for the fans to give them high-fives and autographs. But things almost went awry for the two-time MVP, who gave Ravens fans a giant scare by nearly falling off the bike while delivering high-fives:
Social media had plenty of priceless reactions to Lamar Jackson’s near-accident. Even the reigning league MVP himself chimed in on the averted disaster:
Unfortunately, there’s no shortage of NFL players suffering brutal injuries outside of football that sidelined them long-term. Just last year, then-Buffalo Bills running back Nyheim Hines suffered a torn ACL in a jet ski accident that forced him to miss the entire year.
There was also the horrific incident in 2008 when then-New York Giants wide receiver Plaxico Burress accidentally shot himself in the thigh outside a nightclub. To make matters worse, Burress spent two years in prison for possession of a weapon.
In 2012, Baltimore Ravens linebacker Terrell Suggs tore his Achilles during a recreational basketball game. Suggs was initially expected to miss the entire year, but he returned in the midst of the season and helped Baltimore to a Super Bowl 47 championship.
Fortunately for Lamar Jackson, he avoided the awful misfortune of suffering a potentially serious injury outside of football. Let’s hope he’ll be just a little more cautious riding his bike going forward.
Lamar Jackson & Ravens Open Season At Kansas City Chiefs
Jackson and his Ravens won’t have to wait much longer for comeuppance, as they’ll open the 2024 season against Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs at Arrowhead Stadium on Sept. 5.
Lamar and Baltimore will seek revenge for their heartbreaking loss to Kansas City in last year’s AFC title game, a 17-10 loss at M&T Bank Stadium.
