The LA Dodgers defeated the New York Yankees in the Fall Classic over five games to win their second World Series in four years and the eighth overall in franchise history. While World Series MVP Freddie Freeman and Japanese superstar Shohei Ohtani took the spotlight after their triumph, infielder Tommy Edman was one of the unsung heroes for the team in the postseason.
However, his heroics didn’t go unnoticed as the reigning World Series winners signed the 29-year-old to a five-year, $74 million extension in the offseason in November.
Edman took to Instagram to show appreciation for the extension, captioning his post:
“Lots to be thankful for. Excited for these next five years in LA! God is good!”
Edman had signed a two-year deal with the St. Louis Cardinals in January 2024 before being moved to the Dodgers at the trade deadline in a three-team trade involving the Chicago White Sox.
His new deal runs through 2029 with an option for an additional year for $13 million and a signing bonus of $17 million. His extension came on the back of a breakthrough season, especially his crucial output in the National League Championship Series against the New York Mets.
He drove in 11 runs against the Mets and was named the NLCS MVP for helping the Dodgers to the World Series, where he drove in another six runs against the New York Yankees.

Tommy Edman enjoyed a breakthrough year for the Dodgers, helping them to the World Series title. However, that wasn’t his only highlight of the year, as Edman and his wife, Kristen, celebrated their fifth wedding anniversary in November.
“5 years with my love! ♥️,” he captioned the post.
Tommy Edman and Kristen reportedly started dating in 2017 and got engaged a year later in December. They tied the knot in November 2019 and share a son, born in 2023. The NLCS MVP had a heartfelt note for the Dodgers and the fans for accepting his family after the World Series triumph.
“Thank you LA for welcoming my family with open arms! And thank you for showing out for us all season, especially yesterday!! LA knows how to celebrate!” Edman wrote in a post.
It will be interesting to see how Dodgers manager Dave Roberts accommodates the utility man after his breakthrough year with the team in 2024.
