The Chicago Blackhawks made huge additions in the off-season, thanks to GM Kyle Davidson. The Blackhawks hope to improve into a competitive team this season as a result. This could lead to a situation, where Luke Richardson needs to be at his best.

Scott Powers of The Athletic wonders if Luke Richardson’s job could be in trouble if the Blackhawks in 2024-2025 aren’t more competitive.

But this shouldn’t be taken seriously, as the Blackhawks are not projected to be contenders soon. But with Connor Bedard entering the sophomore season of his NHL career, and over $25 M in cap space added, it could be assumed they should be a .500% team.

Richardson did earn a 49-102-13 record with the Blackhawks the last two seasons in Chicago, and the Blackhawks desperately need Richardson to prove to the organization his systems work.

They couldn’t have found a better coach to approach the team with a calm demeanor and help the young players find their game in the NHL. But that doesn’t change the fact he could be on the hot seat soon.

With a competitive advantage this year, if Richardson does fail it seems like his job could be in question, if the team can’t improve as GM Kyle Davidson hopes.
