The rap icon Eminem has made a surprising comeback with his album “Kamikaze” and a new music video aimed at “calling out” younger rappers and critics of his previous album.
Eminem, one of the living legends in the global rap scene, recently stunned fans by dropping a new album, “Kamikaze,” unexpectedly mid-week.
The album immediately garnered attention from fans and the media alike for its aggressive stance, targeting younger rappers and firing back at critics of Eminem’s previous album, “Revival,” who had labeled him as past his prime.
The cover of “Kamikaze” is a plane flying at full speed, symbolizing Eminem’s intolerance towards those who criticized him.
Specifically, in this album, Eminem directly names current prominent rappers such as Lil Pump, Migos, Lil Yachty, and Tyler, The Creator. Of particular note is his targeting of white rapper Machine Gun Kelly (MGK), known for his hit “Bad Things” with Camila Cabello last year. MGK was called out by Eminem a staggering 27 times throughout “Kamikaze.”
The reason behind this is MGK’s disrespectful comments on Twitter a few years ago about Eminem’s daughter, Hailie, who was only 16 at the time.
MGK responded with a diss track titled “Rap Devil,” attacking Eminem’s relevance and even his ex-wife. It seems the feud between these two rappers—one a veteran and the other from the new generation—is far from over and continues to escalate by the day.
The battle between Eminem and MGK is one of the hottest topics in the music industry.
To promote the album, Eminem also released a new music video, “Fall,” yesterday. The video features an enraged Eminem responding to harsh criticisms of his previous musical endeavors, to the extent that he symbolically tramples on his own prior album, “Revival.” The imagery at the end of the video suggests Eminem has returned with a completely different, uncompromising demeanor, reminiscent of his earlier persona.
Currently, the album is topping charts in 63 countries and Billboard predicts it will debut at number one on the Billboard 200 next week with over 360,000 units sold.
