Bad news for Corey Perry
According to Renaud Lavoie, former Blackhawks forward and current oiler Corey Perry missed the last game due to an injury.
He marked history in Game One of the Stanley Cup finals as he was the first player ever to play for five different NHL organizations in the Stanley Cup finals. He has certainly taken a step back in terms of his scoring touch in these playoffs as he has played fourteen games, has no goals and one assist in his -3.
After being terminated from the Blackhawks earlier in the year he was signed by the Oilers for a contract of $2.7 million. General manager Ken Holland felt that his leadership on the ice and in the dressing room along with his scoring touch would help the Oilers.
Certainly, part of that is true and the road to success will be difficult for the Oilers as the team is currently in a 0-2 deficit for the series as it switches back to Edmonton.
If Perry takes the ice, and the crowd energy is as high as it’s been throughout these playoffs it could be good fortune for the Oilers as they want to avoid going down 3-0.
