He’s currently in the middle of his Mathematics world tour, but Ed Sheeran still found the time to pay a visit to British troops in Cyprus and surprise them with an intimate acoustic set.
The British pop superstar, 33, delighted the military personal and their families who are stationed at the Dhekelia Garrison rugby pitch last week, when he turned up to surprise them.
He was already in the country for the final two dates of the highly-anticipated tour, but made sure the troops got a free show of their own.

Organised by the British Forces Foundation (BFF), the day saw the singer-songwriter shake hands with soldiers, sign autographs and take selfies.
However, the real stand-out moment was when the talented musician took to the stage and played some of his most-loved songs for a huge crowd of around 200 people.

A video clip showed Ed walking onto the stage to overwhelming applause and cheering, before he performed his hit single Perfect and the crowd joined in.
Heartwarming footage showed the singer meeting and chatting with members of the armed forces.
One little boy appeared on camera to say: ‘His song perfect, me and my mum always used to sing it and we’ve got him to sign it. She always loved Ed Sheeran.’
He then help up a pillow that featured the lyrics of the song, which has now been signed by Ed himself.
Meanwhile, a mother who was in the crowd added: ‘It’s just such a special opportunity for everybody to come together. All of us out here, especially with the children.
‘They obviously go through a lot of moving and to have this opportunity is really special for them.’
The front rows of the concert were filled with excited youngsters who shouted ‘We met Ed Sheeran, he high-fived us’.
According to Cyprus Mail, Commanding Officer 1Rifles, Lieutenant Colonel Colin Oliver commented: ‘It was an absolute privilege to host Ed and have him here spending time with the fantastic people who make up British Forces Cyprus.

Ed also met with the children and families of the troops
‘These men and women sacrifice a lot, and we’re hugely grateful to Ed and the British Forces Foundation team for making the time to visit British Forces Cyprus.’
Another soldier who got the opportunity to meet the star gushed: ‘I can’t believe it. It means a lot that someone like him would take time to come and support us. We love you Ed.’
The visit comes just after Ed revealed that he is set to take a break from recording his new album, to launch a new music scheme for young people.
He has previously topped the charts with seven huge albums, including his record-breaking 2017 release Divide.
But now, Ed has revealed his plans to launch a new scheme to improve funding for music lessons at schools across the country.
The hitmaker has previously donated millions to his old school, Thomas Mills High in Suffolk, after he was contacted by his old teacher about funding cuts in 2018.
Speaking about the scheme, he said: ‘I started doing that in the county I’m from, and we’ve just now changed to doing it nationwide.
‘I’m now visiting more high schools that really need music funding and you can see what a difference it makes.

‘I’m not an academic person – in the real world I would be viewed as stupid. But I excelled at music and therefore people think I’m good at something.
‘I found it massively helpful to be at a state-funded school that really encouraged that. They’ve basically cut funding for that in England so I’m doing what I can to get funding for it.’
Ed was previously thought to have donated £170,000 to his old school to fund art and music programmes in 2020.
The singer is said to have made the contributions in a bid to help find the next global superstar who can follow in his footsteps.
The A Team hitmaker’s charity Ed Sheeran Suffolk Music Foundation has provided the school with cameras, MacBooks and a photography darkroom for its art and IT departments.
