Pop star Ed Sheeran reveals Ipswich Town to debut pink kit against Tottenham Hotspur in Premier League clash

Ed Sheeran has revealed on social media that Ipswich Town will play in their pink kit for the first time this season in their Premier League clash against Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday.

The third kit was designed for the 2024/25 campaign in collaboration with the pop star and is inspired by ‘Suffolk Pink’ that represents the iconic cottages that can be found across the county.

A silhouette of Framlingham Castle can be seen on the pink shirt, which was incorporated in the singer’s music video for his famous track ‘Castle on the Hill’.

Also found on the kit are soundwaves, inspired by the noise of the Portman Road faithful, as well as a representation of the 60 miles of Suffolk coastline from Felixstowe to Lowestoft.

Ipswich’s Wolsey Gate, reflected in the turrets at the top of the Town badge, is additionally included in the design.

Sheeran spoke to the club’s website earlier this year and said: “I wanted to incorporate Framingham Castle on here, as it’s my hometown, and in my opinion a huge landmark of Suffolk.

“We used ‘Suffolk Pink’ which nods to the way cottages have been painted here for generations, but also how beautiful the sunset is in our amazing county. There are also sound waves from the noise of fans at Portman Road.

“It feels like such an honour to be involved in this football club and to be able to create things so close to my heart, which has always been my hometown, family and friends. Which is what football is about really.

“I can’t wait for the kick-off and to see us in the Prem again.”

From next season, Town will no longer feature Sheeran’s mathematics logo +–=÷×, on their kit.

The 33-year-old musician, who is a lifelong fan of the Blues, has been the front of shirt sponsor for the men’s and women’s teams since 2021.
