The time is now,' says Edmonton Oilers captain Connor McDavid as some normalcy returns to hockey | Watch News Videos Online

Speaking to reporters after practice at Downtown Community Arena, Edmonton Oilers superstar Connor McDavid offered candid thoughts on living in the Alberta capital.

While acknowledging the city’s reputation, McDavid emphasized the underrated positives.

“It’s not the beach and it’s not beautiful weather all the time, but we’re here to play hockey and we’re here to be a part of something and I think guys want to do that,” McDavid said.

Unlike glamorous cities like Los Angeles or Miami, Edmonton lacks warm weather and oceanside views. But for McDavid, what matters most is focusing on hockey and contributing to the community.

“I think for people that haven’t experienced Edmonton, it’s really easy living. There’s no hour’s drive, there’s no traffic – although the construction could be better (laughs) – but it’s really convenient living. It’s easy living; stress-free living. It checks a lot of boxes for a lot of guys,” he said.

Now married after tying the knot with fiancée Lauren Kyle in July, Connor McDavid seems content with life in Edmonton.
