Celebrities were out in force to throw their support behind England ahead of the Euro 2024 final which, sadly, resulted in defeat.

Leading the A-listers in the stands were Ed Sheeran and Harry Styles, proudly patriotic as they cheered for Gareth Southgate’s squad who took on eventual winners Spain at Olympiastadion in Germany.

Alas, football did not come home this time, as Spain triumphed 2-1 with a second goal with just minutes to spare.

As sadness rang through the stands of England supporters over in Berlin, there were plenty of celebs also feeling the impact of the loss.

Devout footie fan Ed certainly hasn’t been a stranger to the Euros this time around, having been spotted at several games throughout the tournament.

For the final, the Grammy winner donned a red jersey, sitting with pals and appearing in good spirits while rooting for the Three Lions before they emerged losers.

When England scored their only goal, Ed and his wife, Cherry Seaborn, shared a celebratory smooch before things went pear-shaped.

Meanwhile, Watermelon Sugar hitmaker Harry made a more low-key appearance.

Following his return to the stage after a year away with a Stevie Nicks duet at Hyde Park this week, the 1D alum was spotted hanging out with a few sporting legends.

Initially seemingly keen to maintain a low profile, Harry was seen in the background of footage shared online by former England goalkeeper David Seaman, who had Peter Crouch in his gang as well.

Looking as suave as ever, the pop star put on a cool display in a white shirt and black shades, rocking somewhat of a mullet as he grows his locks back following a buzz cut in 2023.

Harry watched on as the packed stadium burst into It’s Coming Home, the atmosphere electric.

Joining Harry in the stands was James Corden, a close friend of the As It Was vocalist and proud England fan.

Just last week, James went to extreme lengths to make sure he didn’t miss a second of the football, delaying his theatre performance and streaming the semi-final penalties on an iPad for 15 minutes before finally starting the show.

And while the Euros didn’t give us a trophy, it did provide us with a mini One Direction reunion, as football-mad Louis Tomlinson attended the game.

He was seen chatting to long-time pal and collaborator, Ed, with Harry nestled into the group of friends, suggesting he and Louis were able to enjoy a catch-up away from cameras.

It comes after the Kill My Mind hitmaker was crowned the unlikely hero of Glastonbury Festival when he brought a TV into Worthy Farm so revellers could gather around and watch one of England’s earlier games.

Other celebs at tonight’s game include British actor and musician Damian Lewis, and Prince George who accompanied his father Prince William, who is the Football Association (FA) president.

Roman Kemp accompanied his dad, Martin Kemp, taking selfies with fans pitchside, while Dani Dyer nailed the sporty chic vibe in an England shirt and mini skirt, despite her glum expression at the end.

Meanwhile, poor Olly Murs had a rather emotional to the outcome of the final.

Taking to Instagram, the musician shared a photo of himself with his head in his hands, footie shirt covering his face as he processed what had happened.

Olly’s caption read: ‘When you realise you’ve got to fly from Berlin to Zurich before heading back to London after losing the Euros 😫💀❌ ‘

He did, however, describe it as an ‘unforgettable night’, having been flown out by Qatar Airways.

Sharing their reactions to the loss were comedians Rob Beckett and Lloyd Griffith, who were initially filled with optimism and excitement.

‘We made it!’, they posted ahead of kick-off, England shirts on, faces smiley.

Once the result was confirmed, though, they shared another photo from the train, looking a little worse for wear and certainly not as thrilled as they were a few hours earlier.

‘We’re coming home. See you in 2026 🇺🇸 🇨🇦 🇲🇽’, they captioned the joint post.

For celebs who couldn’t make it to Germany, they marked the tournament’s end in their own way at home.

Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly got into the football spirit from London in their England shirts, while Phillip Schofield rocked an England flag for face paint in a rare Instagram selfie.

Kate Beckinsale, Amanda Holden, Olly Murs, and Piers Morgan were among fellow celebrities wanting a piece of the action, pints in hand and decked out in merchandise.

Following the game, the likes of Jeremy Clarkson and Nigella Lawson took to social media to share their sorrow, with the former Top Gear host taking drastic action by throwing his England flags into the bin almost instantly.

Nigella had a more dignified response, writing on X: ‘Thank you boys for doing your best for us’, while Gogglebox’s Scarlett Moffatt said in an Instagram post: ‘It might not have come home, but thanks for the memories lads @england so so proud.’
