The Bruins and Devils look like an excellent match for a potential big trade.

Boston Bruins star goalie Linus Ullmark is one of the NHL’s top trade candidates for the 2024 NHL Offseason. The 2023 Vezina Trophy winner was notably almost dealt at the deadline but blocked a move because the rumored club was on his no-trade list. Following this, Jeremy Swayman stole the Bruins’ crease during the playoffs and, without question, is the club’s long-term answer between the pipes.
Because of this, Ullmark has already been connected to several teams this offseason, including the Ottawa Senators, Carolina Hurricanes, Edmonton Oilers, and Detroit Red Wings. However, when it comes to a potential trading partner fit for the Bruins, the best option out there might be the New Jersey Devils.
The Devils were linked to Ullmark at the 2024 NHL Trade Deadline, and their need for a true starting goalie is still there. Yes, they added Jake Allen at the deadline, but he is a better fit as a 1B or backup. They also acquired Kaapo Kahkonen, but he is a UFA and is expected to hit the market. As a result, they desperately could use a star between the pipes like Ullmark.
Devils GM Tom Fitzgerald has also made it abundantly clear that he is willing to be a big-time buyer this offseason. He shared that he is willing to trade the 10th overall pick of the 2024 NHL Entry Draft for a significant piece and is looking to add a goalie. This should immediately grab Boston’s attention.
After acquiring Tyler Bertuzzi from the Detroit Red Wings during the 2022-23 season, the Bruins are without a first-round pick for the third year in a row. After years of buying, their prospect pool is naturally not the strongest. Because of this, the idea of securing the 10th overall pick and selecting a top prospect should certainly intrigue them.

However, Ullmark has a big say over if and where he will end up this offseason. He has a 16-team no-trade list. As noted above, he is not afraid to block trades from clubs on it.
