The “We Can’t Stop” singer will be joins the country crooner on ‘The Voice.’
Gwen Stefani isn’t the only pop star that Blake Shelton gushed over during his appearance on Chelsea Handler’s Netflix show.
The 40-year-old country crooner also revealed what a fan he is of Miley Cyrus, who will be joining season 11 of The Voice in August. “I like Miley,” he told Handler. “I don’t know her that well. I know her dad [Billy Ray Cyrus].”
The talk show host quipped, “I think it’s much cooler to be friends with Miley. She’s one of the most talented people. I mean, that girl can really sing.”
Shelton agreed, but felt that the twerking and outlandish costumes might mask her massive talent. “I feel like her antics sometimes keep people from realizing what an incredible singer she is,” he said of Cyrus. “I know that’s what she wants.”
“When she just sings, it’s like, ‘Oh my God!'”
The Voice mentor added.
ET also spoke with Shelton about working with the 23-year-old singer this season, and he seemed pretty excited about the idea. “I’ve known her dad for years, and so it’s like — ‘I’m gonna call your dad! I will tell your dad what an a**hole you’re being right now, so you better settle down, missy!'” he joked.
In all seriousness, Shelton thinks they’ll make a great team. “I can’t imagine us ever having a problem,” he continued. “We completely understand each other, and just because she lives her life one way and I live my life one way doesn’t mean we’re not friends. Because, God, if that was the case, I wouldn’t have — especially in this town, Los Angeles — everyone would hate me.”
