Corey Perry’s contract was terminated on November 28th, 2023, and would later sign with the Edmonton Oilers.

He would later settle with the Blackhawks to recover monies owed due to the termination. This wouldn’t require a grievance for Perry to win any kind of settlement, but he would become a cap penalty as a result for the up-and-coming Hawks team.

Despite all of this, he did his time and worked on himself in therapy according to Perry, as he struggled with Alcohol and mental health issues.

He would later be signed with the Edmonton Oilers on January 22nd.

This would of course be controversial because treatment can mean many things, it is a very ubiquitous and universal term.

Corey Perry harassed a colleague and went through “treatment” in less than two months đź©·so happy for him that he changed so quickly and immediately signed to a new team. Doesn’t happen every day, or ever. But he did it

One person’s treatment isn’t the same as the others, especially mental health issues.

But with Perry in the Stanley Cup Finals, he was bound to gain some kind of hatred from others, who don’t know the truth of his situation.

That was the case with former Athletic reporter and Canes’ media personality Sara Civian.

A team investigation concluded that the 38-year-old forward had committed “workplace misconduct” at an off-ice event in the days before he was abruptly scratched for a game at Columbus on Nov. 22.

Of course, if Perry did what she accused him of, perhaps there was more of an effort for him to make to set the situation right.

But we know no more than it was an incident of “workplace misconduct” and nothing official was said, as the Blackhawks kept mum on the entire incident.

Perry is on the cusp of possibly winning his second Stanley Cup and will never live down the hatred, unfortunately.
