Philadelphia 76ers rookie Jared McCain revealed how his TikTok with Bronny James went viral and became the piece of content that put him in the social media spotlight. The 16th overall pick by the 76ers in the 2024 NBA draft sat down with new teammate Paul George on his ‘Podcast P with Paul George’ for an episode and one of the talking points was his viral TikTok video.

McCain explained that he started with the videos during COVID, and the reception opened up to him getting roughly 250,000 followers.

“I saw people who I could dance better. I felt like I looked better than them. And I feel like I dance better than them. So I was like I am already confident in this and I’mma just doing it. Luckily I did it during COVID, so it was like home school.”

He added that his collaboration with Bronny James was one of his biggest.

Jared McCain has built over 3.7 million followers on the platform off the court. While on it, his skills were distinctly seen when he suited up for the Duke Blue Devils. Come the 2024-25 NBA season, he will suit up with Paul George hoping for a title-winning season.

Jared McCain had a decent Summer League averaging 14.3 points per game on 26.1 percent shooting. His numbers were on the same level as his numbers at Duke, where he propped up 14.3 points, five rebounds and 1.9 assists in 36 contents. Per Sixers Wire, McCain was named ACC All-Freshan and NCAA All-Region after helping lead the team to the Elite Eight.

In Philadelphia, the role would be to evolve into a full-fledged point guard. McCain has shown glimpses of his passing and playmaking abilities. Per The Athletic’s Sam Vecenie, McCain has all the attributes needed to shape up into a reliable NBA player in the future.

“He has a strong 200-pound frame, and the intel on McCain isn’t just good; it’s elite. He ticks every single box from a character perspective and is known to be excellent in terms of work ethic — both in the gym and in the weight room. There’s every reason to buy into him continuing to grow from this already strong starting point.”

Jared McCain is pegged to be a steal for the 76ers at No. 16. Only time will tell how he fares for the side when he takes the hardwood in the upcoming season.
