The New York Yankees had a disappointing outing on Monday as the Kansas City Royals came back roaring to secure a 4-2 victory in Game 2. Salvador Perez slammed a leadoff home run before Tommy Pham and Garret Thompson scored much-needed RBIs to extend the lead to 4-2.
Ashley Rodon Calls Out Personal, Family Threats From Yankee Fans

Carlos Rodon faced not only disappointment on the mound but also an ugly experience off the field after the New York Yankees’ 4-2 loss to the Kansas City Royals in Game 2 of the ALDS. Rodon, who allowed four runs in 3 2/3 innings, saw his slider fail him during a crucial fourth inning, leading to his early exit. Salvador Perez’s leadoff home run off a hanging slider tied the game, and Rodon couldn’t recover, giving up three more runs in the inning, marking a sudden collapse after a promising start. That being said, Rodon’s struggles on the field were compounded by personal attacks off it. His wife, Ashley, shared disturbing online messages, which included hateful remarks about their family and the couple’s use of IVF.
“People are pretty disgusting at times. I understand [fans] get frustrated. Let’s not forget this is just a game, and don’t threaten people’s families,” Carlos Rodon said. In the same statement, the pitch also defended true Yankee fans, suggesting that these threat messages didn’t represent them. Meanwhile, despite the setback, the left-hander expressed regret for the pitches that cost him, particularly the ineffective sliders, saying he wanted to be better for the team. Unfortunately, this postseason start did not match the strong end to his regular season, where he had posted a 2.20 ERA over his last five starts. Now, Carlos Rodon and the New York Yankees must look ahead with three games to go in the ALDS. And the off-field incidents serve as a reminder of the pressures and personal toll professional athletes can face, especially during high-stakes playoffs.
Royals Got Lucky In Game 2 Win Over Yankees, Says Jazz Chisholm
After the Yankees’ 4-2 loss to the Kansas City Royals in Game 2 of the ALDS, Jazz Chisholm Jr. remained confident in his team’s ability to bounce back in the series. Despite acknowledging the missed opportunities that contributed to the defeat, Chisholm downplayed Kansas City’s win, “We had a lot of missed opportunities. (The Royals) just got lucky.”
His statement reflected the New York Yankees’ belief in their collective strength and resilience, even after a tough night. With the five-game series heading to Kansas City, Chisholm and the Bronx Bombers are focused on regaining their form in Game 3 and are determined to seize control of the series, which currently stands 1-1.
