Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James has helped lead Team USA to a perfect record at the Paris Olympics. Defeating Brazil in convincing fashion on Tuesday, Team USA advanced to the semifinals, where they will face Denver Nuggets star Nikola Jokic and the rest of Serbia’s high-level roster.

James had an injury scare in Tuesday’s game, taking an elbow to the eye that Team USA head coach Steve Kerr said needed four stitches. This shot to the eye kept James to just under 17 minutes played, but he still finished the game with 12 points, nine assists, and three rebounds.

Despite this injury scare, James was able to make Olympics history in the win over Brazil. With this being his fourth Olympic Games, James is near the very top of several all-time lists and moved into third all-time in Olympic assists on Tuesday.

This history-making performance was another impressive achievement in James’ incredible basketball career.

James has already announced that this will be his last Olympics, which makes this gold medal pursuit even more important for the NBA’s all-time leading scorer. The 2028 Olympics are set for Los Angeles, but James does not plan to compete.

Tuesday’s win puts Team USA two victories away from a gold medal. Their semifinal game will be against Serbia, and the winner of that game will play the winner of France-Germany in the gold medal game.
