Las Vegas Aces rookie Kate Martin has cemented herself in the University of Iowa’s history books.

While Martin wasn’t able to secure a national championship while at lowa, the two consecutive runner-up finishes they had were the best seasons in program history.

Of course, Martin would not have been able to guide lowa to this success without Caitlin Clark, who is arguably the best women’s college basketball player of all time.

This dynamic duo came agonizingly close to being champions at lowa before moving on to their WNBA careers.

Martin returned to lowa to speak with her former program Wednesday. While there, she discussed what lowa must do if they’re to succeed next season.

“For the rest of the summer, have the mindset of, ‘Why not?” Martin said to lowa’s team, per a video from lowa Women’s Basketball’s X account.

“Why can’t you guys go back to a Final Four? Why can’t you guys win the Big 10 Championship again? Why not?

“Don’t put any limitations on who you can be and where you guys can go,because that’s bulls***,” Martin continued. “F- it, go have fun, and be the best teammate you can be.”

Wise words from the lowa icon.
