Jennifer Lopez has been shooting Shotgun Wedding in the Dominican Republic for the past couple weeks, and this weekend, she shared some more downtime content of her living her best life in paradise. J.Lo’s Sunday videos had thirst trap vibes to them, with the singer dancing to DJ Khalid and Drake’s “Popstar” in the pool with a mimosa in hand. (Drake and J.Lo actually were rumored to be romantically involved back in 2017, before she started daring Rodriguez. Back then, she seemed to change her New Year’s plans for Drake, kissed him on a prom-like video shoot, and reportedly received a $100,000 diamond necklace from him.)

Notably absent from her Sunday content was Alex Rodriguez. Whether this sends any sort of message about their relationship status is unclear. Following breakup reports earlier this month, Rodriguez has flown from Miami to the Dominican Republic multiple weekends to work on his relationship with Lopez in person (including last weekend).

The couple hasn’t commented officially on their status since clarifying, one day after breakup reports, that they were still together, but “we are working through some things.”

Last week, multiple sources gave E! an update on Rodriguez’s progress. “He is making a huge effort to show her that their relationship is his number one priority,” one source said, revealing he flew to the Dominican Republic for a second weekend to work on things with J.Lo. “They both realized that spending a lot of time apart wasn’t helpful. He had the opportunity in his schedule where he could go and be with her and that’s what they both wanted. He was originally supposed to visit every two weeks but he wanted to go sooner and she appreciated that.”

A second source revealed that Lopez appreciated Rodriguez going the distance for them, literally. “It was important to Jennifer that Alex stepped up in a public way and showed his level of commitment to her with a trip to see her while working,” the second source said. “Jennifer appreciates big gestures like these.” Generally, that source added, “Things between the two of them are heading in the right direction.”

That said, Rodriguez still may have an uphill battle ahead of them. Multiple outlets (including People, Entertainment Tonight, and E!) reported that Lopez had doubts about Rodriguez’s character leading up to split reports given his past cheating scandals.

A source told E! earlier in March that “Jennifer’s friends for a long time had warned her that A.Rod was not a good guy and that he was using her to clean up his tarnished image after his many scandals. For years, Jennifer did not listen to the warnings, but now she believes them.”
