Ice Cube Reflects on N.W.A.’s Future After Dr. Dre’s Shift to Eminem and 50 Cent

Ice Cube discussed the potential idea of a new N.W.A. lineup, which was only in its early stages. After the death of Eazy-E, Ice Cube and Dr. Dre started working together again, and they had even collaborated on “Natural Born Killaz” for the *Murder Was the Case* soundtrack. They briefly thought about doing a new project together, but things changed when Dr. Dre discovered Eminem, then later 50 Cent and Kendrick Lamar. Dre’s work with them naturally delayed any N.W.A. plans, especially as everyone got busy with projects like  the Up in Smoke Tour.
Ice Cube also mentioned his unique tour experiences, like the Up in Smoke Tour, which he enjoyed even though he missed certain shows, including one in Phoenix. Fans were disappointed when he couldn’t perform at some spots, but he recalled how wild and fun that tour was overall.

 

In addition, Ice Cube spoke about his time connecting with rock groups like Korn, particularly during his *War & Peace* era. After performing in the 1992 Lollapalooza tour, he began crossing into the rock scene, collaborating with Korn on music and touring with them. He appreciated Korn’s fusion of hip-hop and rock, which made them a perfect match for his vision. Ice Cube then joined Korn on the Family Values Tour, which included other acts like Limp Bizkit and Rammstein, a German band known for their intense live performances that even involved setting themselves on fire. Ice Cube described these shows as some of the most incredible and intense he’d ever experienced, showing the crossover appeal he enjoyed in both hip-hop and rock scenes.
